The Rotary Clubs of Tenby and Saundersfoot held their 13th annual Charity golf Day at Tenby Golf Club last week.

A full complement of 26 teams took part and some very good cards were returned. Everyone, including those whose golf was not at its best on the day, was able to enjoy an excellent dinner prepared, in the temporary absence of club caterers, by Castlemead Catering.

Guest speaker Billy Lewis, from Glynhir GC, kept his audience entertained with a never ending series of stories.

Club captain Alan Morton welcomed the Rotary Clubs and players to the club and Peter Williams, vice-president of the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot, thanked the Golf Club for the use of the facilities, and especially the sponsors for their continued support and those who donated raffle prizes. The event has raised over £20,000 over the last 13 years.

Results were: 1. Bissmire Fudge and Ptns. (players - Peter Radford, Gwyn Scale and Jim Steele) 88 pts; 2. Michael Smiddy and Co. (Mike Smiddy, Billy Ledwood, Steve Williams) 82; 3. tie between Keating and King (Phil Keating, Owen Monoghan, Martin Morris) and Brindley Smith Associates (John Hancock, Colin Griffith and Des Stone) 77.

Longest drive: Alan Jones (was it really 290 yards?).

Nearest the pin: Matt Goldwait.

The major raffle prizes were won by Joe Taylor (flight around Pembrokeshire from Withybush Airfield) and John O'Neill (voucher for Pam Pam Restaurant, Tenby).
