At last Monday's meeting in the Merlewood Hotel, the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot's president, Haydn Williams (right), presented area co-ordinator for Welsh Air Ambulance, Peter Kraus, with a cheque for £500. Peter told his audience that it costs £1,000 for each trip of the air ambulance at an annual cost of £750,000. Peter is well known for his fund-raising skills for charity and will be taking part in a Vertigo Challenge at Oakwood on August 14 to raise money for this emergency service, which is based in Swansea, but is able to reach Pembrokeshire in 12 minutes. It is a fact that if injured or sick people are treated within one hour (known as the Golden Hour) the chance of survival is vastly improved.
