Round-the-world adventurer, Rosie Swale Pope paid a special visit to Ward 10, Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, on Tuesday, to present a cheque for £1,808.24 which she had raised by competing in the recent Cardiff Marathon.
Rosie took part in the event in honour of her late husband Clive and to say thank you to all the doctors, nurses and auxiliary staff on the cancer and palliative care ward who looked after Clive during his illness.
Funding primarily an industrial washing machine for the ward, Rosie has been 'overwhelmed' by the generosity of people who have donated sponsorship to her.
"People have been so kind," she said this week.
"I have raised over £1,000 more than I expected and I cannot thank people enough," she continued.
"The support and encouragement I have received has given me an awful lot of strength during these hard times.
"Everyone at ward 10 was delighted to see me on Tuesday and they were all thrilled with the amount I had raised.
"I was so pleased to meet up with Dr. Gokul and all Clive's favourite nurses during the afternoon and especially pleased that our friend, Carol Kingaby, was in attendance, together with Chris Bonwick, of the Hope MS Therapy Centre at Neyland," she added.
Calling into tell us about the presentation, Rosie also extended her thanks to all the staff at the Observer for their 'exceptional' support and coverage of her fund-raising campaign.
