Observer reporter Ceris Hewlings had a surprise 'phone call on Wednesday.

Adventurer Rosie Swale-Pope called to say hello whilst on a flying visit to Tenby.

Rosie, who was taking time out from her Paris-Rome challenge, was in town to collect her car from Tenby Autos, before heading off to give a talk in Exeter.

"Tenby is looking lovely in the spring," she said, whilst enjoying a bacon roll at Fiveways Garage!

"I am just ringing to say hello and let all my friends know I am thinking of them and am sorry I have not got time to visit them all.

"I am suffering with my injured knee; it is a bit better, but I am halfway to Rome."

As reported previously, Rosie is pulling her trusty home on wheels, Icebird, from Paris to Rome with the aim of taking part in the Rome Marathon on March 16.

Rosie set off from the head office of Unilever France for the two-month run in aid of cancer research at the end of January.

However, only days into the journey, Rosie suffered an unexpected drama. She slipped and injured some ligaments in her knee and had to go to hospital where she had x-rays.

Medics ruled out any serious injury, but gave her crutches to help her and she is now bravely carrying on at a very slow pace.

Rosie will be returning to France to carry on her journey in the next couple of days.
