It’s been a question on everyone’s lips... where’s adventurer Rosie Swale Pope these days?

Well, we can now reveal, she’s running across America.

The 69-year-old is pulling a nine-foot long bright red cart called Ice Chick with all her possessions from New York to Hollywood and in true Rosie style, inspiring individuals everywhere in between.

With her cart adorned with ‘God Bless America,’ Rosie is running for cancer awareness, war veterans and all who help and enable others.

“My slogan for this run is lending my feet to the people we meet,” said Rosie. “I love the freedom of running and making a difference. I believe the smallest thing can make the biggest difference.”

And guess who she met on her travels recently? None other than former Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane!

Clr. Lane is visiting her son, Jonathan, in Texas, and went on an expedition to find Rosie.

“It was a historic and wonderful day,” said a delighted Rosie. “Sue was Mayor of Tenby when I set off on my round the world run in 2003 and when I returned in 2008.

“Sue (seven times Tenby Mayor) is such a precious part of my life,” she continued.

“Long before the world run, I remember Sue seeing me off on the bus to Heathrow at about 6 am with her eyes - and mine - held open by matchsticks when I headed to Iceland for a run.

“All of Tenby far and wide in Pembrokeshire love her and she does so much good for everybody. It is just typical of Sue and her charming son Jon who works in Houston that they made a detour during a 12 hour drive to come to see me.”

Said Clr. Mrs. Lane: “When I found out that my long time friend Rosie was in Texas the same time as myself, I had to go and find her. So while Jonathan and I were travelling from Midland Texas to Houston, we did a slight detour and met up with her on the roadside 30 miles north of Fort Worth.

“After several hugs and photographs, we went for coffee and a catch up. I am so grateful that we did. Rosie as you all know is an exceptional and inspirational woman and it’s been an honour to have been a very small part of her travels - seeing her off on several adventures, welcoming her home and now meeting up while on the road! Rosie keep going you make us all proud to be your friends.”Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town Council, Clr. Lane told her colleagues Rosie wished to pass on her best wishes to her friends and the town itself.“It was absolutely brilliant to see and she is getting a wonderful reception out there for what she is doing.”

Rosie aims to reach her destination later this year.
