Recycling is set to become easier than ever before for thousands of Pembrokeshire residents. Pembrokeshire County Council is rolling out its orange bag recycling scheme to more than 20,000 properties over the next few months. Householders will be able to put out their recyclables for collection in special orange bags once a week, as well as their normal black-bag refuse. It follows a 12-month trial involving 3,000 households in Hakin and rural areas around Llangwm. "Thanks to the efforts of all the householders involved, the pilot was a great success," said Clr. Brian Hall, cabinet member for transportation and environment. "We are now in a position to extend the recycling service to many more areas in March, April and June. "These include Milford Haven, Steynton, Neyland, Honeyborough, Hazelbeach, Llanstadwell, Broad Haven, Little Haven, Dale, Marloes, Haverfordwest, Crundale, Simpson Cross, Keeston, Freystrop, Pembroke, Pembroke Dock and Johnston." Clr, Hall said the orange bag recycling scheme was a cost-effective and simple way of recycling. "The following recyclable materials can be placed in the orange bags: newspaper and magazines, office paper, junk mail, plastic (bottles, tubs, containers and bags), food and drink cans and tins, aluminium foil, cardboard, directories and catalogues," he said. The orange bags will be taken to a purpose-built materials recycling facility near Haverfordwest. Householders will receive a postcard, information pack and the orange bags prior to the launch of the scheme, and there will also be a series of recycling awareness meeting meetings. The meetings will be held at: • Neyland Athletic Club, John Street, Neyland (Wednesday, March 2) • Milford Haven Town Hall (Thursday, March 3) • Picton Centre, Haverfordwest (Wednesday, March 30) • Pembroke Dock Town Hall, Pater Hall, Lewis Street (Wednesday, June 15) • Pembroke Town Hall, Main Street, Pembroke (Thursday, June 16) All meetings will take place between 7 and 8 pm. • For further information about waste and recycling, please contact Pembrokeshire Service Line on 0845 602 1386 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
