A scheme to improve road safety near Tavernspite Community Primary School has been hailed a success.
A new 20 mph zone has been introduced outside the school, together with new pavements, speed humps and a dedicated bus bay.
Average speeds near the school have more than halved, from an average of 38 mph last year to 18 mph.
The road safety improvements, which cost more than £40,000, have been jointly funded by Pembrokeshire County Council and Blaencilgoed Quarry, Ludchurch.
Local councillor David Simpson said it was a wonderful scheme.
"I'm especially pleased that the average road speed outside the school has dropped from 38 mph to 18 mph, which is a drastic decrease," he said.
The school is now connected to the village by a pavement from the Tair Ffynnon estate, while the new bus bay allows pupils to get off and on safely.
Headteacher Kevin Phelps added: "The whole school community is delighted with these new road safety improvements.
"There is nothing more important than the safety of our children and we are very grateful to everyone for their generosity and commitment to allow this project to go ahead."
