With the opening of the new Narberth Primary School fast approaching, County Councillor Wynne Evans has had a series of meetings with senior  officers of the local authority with regard to road safety issues.

"With consultation from various bodies in the town, as well as the school governing body representative, I am pleased to state that upgrade and widening of pavements in Jesse Road will commence in May," Clr. Evans told the Observer.

"I can now also confirm, that an extra road safety crossing patrol person will also be  employed to allow one patrol person at the crossing point of the existing school, one at Commercial Corner and one at the new build school." In addition, Clr. Evans revealed that 20 mph flashing traffic speed signage would also be installed in Jesse Road.

"I have also formally now requested that the traffic camera van spends some time in the Jesse Road location as a deterrent to slow vehicles' speed," Clr. Evans continued.

"I will shortly be pressing for a complete road re- surface scheme in the Commercial Corner/Jesse Road locations. The upgrade of many pavements in the town is also to be included in this. To allow children and parents safety in accessing the new school, is very much a priority, and I am grateful to the many parents and grandparents who have attended my surgeries with their views and suggestions which I have acted upon."
