The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is bracing itself for one of the biggest fund-raising events to take place in Wales, in which music fans will enjoy a star-studded line-up while raising valuable funds for charity.

Famous faces, including rock legends from three world-famous bands, will take to the stage and entertain ticket holders on Carew Airfield tomorrow (Saturday). The proceeds from Carew Rock will go towards the Small Faces All Children's Charity and the RNLI - a decision which was music to the ears of lifeboat supporters in the Pembrokeshire area.

RNLI fund-raising bosses have earmarked the proceeds from the concert to the Tamar Class Lifeboat Appeal for Angle. The fund-raising drive to raise £1million for a new state-of-the-art lifeboat for the volunteer lifeboat crew at Angle RNLI lifeboat station was launched last year.

Beverley Rosser-Smith, area fund-raising manager for West Wales, said: "Carew Rock will be a huge boost to the RNLI's fund-raising efforts to raise £1million towards a new Tamar class lifeboat for Angle. We are so very grateful to organisers for giving us this opportunity to raise our profile at a major event while also boosting this ambitious appeal.

"Not only will people who purchase tickets enjoy a great day's entertainment, they will be helping to support a worthwhile charity, so please support us as you never know when you might have to call upon our volunteer crews."

Tickets, which cost £20, are still from available by calling Ticketmaster on 0871 2302645, or can be purchased on the gate for £25 (no reduction for children).

Jerry Rees, coxswain of Angle RNLI Lifeboat, said: "The Tamar lifeboat is a faster more modern lifeboat which will enable our volunteer crew to save even more lives at sea. As a charity which relies on the voluntary donations and legacies, the lifeboat crew at Angle are delighted to have the support of the public who by purchasing tickets for this event will be making a huge difference to the Angle appeal."

The final line-up for the concert is as follows:  The Jones Gang, led by world famous rock drummer Kenney Jones (of The Small Faces, Rod Stewart and The Faces, The Who).  Los Pacaminos, featuring 80s megastar Paul Young The Blims (acoustic rock band from Cardiff). Triquetra (three girl R'nB group from London). Fables (contemporary rock band from London). The Fred Herring Band (indigenous reggae rock). Kym Marsh (former Hearsay' and Coronation Street star).

Jack Ryder (former Eastenders star). Kym Marsh will pick the winning raffle ticket in the RNLI concert raffle, when one lucky concert-goer will win a Hyundai Getz Atlantic car (for 12 months use) supplied by co-sponsors of the concert, Hyundai Cars UK.

Texaco and Carling are the other major sponsors of the concert. Gates open at 3 pm, with non-stop onstage entertainment until midnight.  Local RNLI fund-raisers will be collecting at the event and an inshore RNLI lifeboat will be on display.

Promoters promise other celebrities will attend the concert and make an appearance on stage to support the two charities. The fund-raiser is being billed as a family day out with something to offer all ages.
