Thanks to the generosity of Tenby and its summer visitors, over £2,500 was raised during Flag Week, which ran from July 28 to Flag Day itself on August 2.

First of all, the thanks of the fund-raising committee go to the manager of Somerfield for allowing them to collect there during the whole of Flag Week. We raised a total of £816.93 there, a record amount for us.

We were on Caldey again this year, with the permission of the Abbot, Father Daniel van Santvoort. In spite of bad weather in the first week and a day in the second when the boats didn't run because of rough seas, we collected £875.92, almost £200 up on last year.

Thanks go to the Abbot for allowing us to collect there and to the boatman who ferry the volunteers across for the fortnight. We would also like to thank Ben Childs and all those on the Island who made us so welcome. A special thank you goes to Suzanne Bolton in the Perfume Shop who keeps all our gear and hands it out every day. She also arranged the Saturday Collection there.

Last but not least, we would like to thank those who collected individually, either by house to house, on the street on Flag Day itself, at Somerfield or on Caldey. They are a great team. Our thanks also to the Caravan Park owners who participated in the collection.

The amounts raised were as follows: Hazelbrook Caravans (Mrs. P. Sole) £43.24; Well Park Caravans (Mrs. J. Nash) £10.86; Rowston Park Caravans (Mr. D. Ormond) £8.95; Mrs. Joyce Mawdsley £192.13; Mrs. K. Apps £10.29; Mrs. J. Davies £9.11; Mrs. Sue James £70.04; Miss Mavis Owen £80.81; Mrs. Joan Thomas £72.47; Mrs. Joan Henderson £27.28; Miss Doreen Mortimer £66.76; Mrs. Jean Shipley/Mrs. Doreen Emmerson £8.09; Mr. David Rees £97.37 and Mrs. Pat Tyler (from Jameston) £20.35.

As usual, we had a stall in Tudor Square. The sum of £86.07 was put in the box there. We also sold goods to the worth of £360.12.

The RNLI depends on the generosity of the public to run its lifeboat service. Yet again Tenby has shown how supportive people are, our thanks to you all.
