RNLI lifeguards have returned to their posts on Pembrokeshire beaches to offer safety advice and assistance to members of the public; however little did they expect that their first casualty of the weekend would be a puffin caught in stormy weather!
A member of the public spotted the feathery friend washed up in stormy conditions on Freshwater West beach on Saturday. A woman brought over the puffin to the RNLI unit and asked the lifeguards for assistance.
RNLI lifeguards took in the injured puffin and called a local volunteer from a bird sanctuary to collect him. The puffin stayed under the watchful eye of the lifeguards until he was taken away by the volunteer for treatment.
