RNLI chief executive Paul Boissier visited the charity's newly-refurbished area support centre in Haverfordwest as part of his visit to RNLI lifeboat stations and centres in South and West Wales.

Paul Boissier visited the RNLI centre, which is used to support the charity's lifeguarding service in Pembrokeshire, as part of his tour to meet RNLI volunteers and staff across South Wales. Over the winter period, contractors from Space Industries have been busy refurbishing the building by creating more storage and improving our training facilities to further support the lifesaving service on Pembrokeshire beaches.

Phil Davies, RNLI lifeguard manager, said: "We were very pleased that Paul Boissier was able to visit the Area Support Centre during his visit to South and West Wales. The RNLI area support centre in Haverfordwest is a great base which is used for RNLI training throughout the year.

"We have a busy few months coming up as the charity's lifeguards prepare to return to the county's beaches, and the improved training rooms and storage space will the a great help to support our teams out on the beaches in 2013."

During his week-long visit, the charity's chief executive has met with volunteers from Barry Dock, Porthcawl, Penarth, Atlantic College, and Fishguard.

Mr. Boissier also stopped to see the construction of the new boathouse at the Mumbles, as well as visiting St. Davids lifeboat station where plans are underway to build a new boathouse to house the station's new Tamar class lifeboat.
