Around 80 people braved the misty weather for the annual RNLI Castlemartin Range ‘Walk and Novelty Dog Show’ on Sunday.

Walkers and runners were sent on their way by Ret’d Rev, Michael Brotherton, Deputy Launching Authority at Angle Lifeboat Station.

Michael has had an amazing career, has numerous involvements, now owns a retired lifeboat and this year was sponsored by friends to run the Range course for the RNLI.

“We were thrilled that Michael agreed to start the event all be it at the last moment - thank you Michael, who then ran as well!” said Daphne Bush for the RNLI Pembroke Ladies Guild.

Funds of over £1,500 have been raised so far for the RNLI through sponsorship, donations and refreshments at the Castlemartin Range event.

Some took part with their pet dogs, whilst many supporters enjoyed the music and refreshments on the site all day also.

Guild members Rachael-Hannah Bush, was head BBQ lady (every committee should have one!), whilst Kath Scourfield and Philip Aston (both volunteers) provided non stop service to us all throughout the day.

Music was provided by Lionel of Eljay Sounds.

The BBQ and gazebos were transported for the third year in succession by Bronwen, Alex and Teighe of Malthouse Vets, Narberth.

Teas and home-made cakes donated by members were served throughout the day by Sandra Thompson, Una Birtwhistle and Margaret Byers, sponsored by equipment from Pembroke Town Council.

“The support of the Army, our sponsors, family and friends make all of the above possible,” continued Daphne.
