A 13-metre yacht, with torn sails and unable to make headway in gale force winds, was towed to safety by RNLI Angle’s all weather lifeboat on Sunday.

There were four people on board the yacht, which was six miles west of Skokholm Island.

The Tamar class lifeboat Mark Mason was launched at 9.18 am and reached the yacht shortly before 10am.

The casualty drogue was transferred by the lifeboat as a precaution and a tow was rigged, with a course set for Milford Haven.

The tow back to Milford was slow, due to the sea conditions, and on arrival at the entrance to Milford Docks at 1.15 pm, the tow was released and the yacht made her own way into the marina.

In the marina, the lifeboat recovered the drogue and was released to return to her station.
