Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild and the RNLI have to thank a very active fundraising member and our minute secretary, Sandra Thompson and husband Mac Thompson for hosting January weekend RNLI fundraising luncheons at their home Upper Castleton for the last 10 years (writes Daphne Bush).

Saturday and Sunday lunches during the last weekend in January have been Sandra and Mac’s huge contribution to RNLI fundraising. Initially named the ‘SOS’ lunch campaign by the charity - Sandra decided to continue with her successful fundraising lunches for the RNLI at Upper Castleton.

Sandra and Mac’s 10th anniversary luncheon last weekend raised an incredible £525, making their 10 year total a staggering £5,734 raised for the RNLI. This amount has and would buy so much equipment and safety clothing for the charity’s lifesaving crews. A Tamar lifeboat crew member’s lifejacket alone, now costs £458 !

Thanks to Sandra and Mac’s hospitality many guests have attended Upper Castleton lunches each year since the outset 10 years ago. Such loyal support makes RNLI fundraising so worthwhile. Thank you all so very much.
