The River Ritec around Tenby remains high this evening (November 4) following the flooding over the past 24hrs, with Pembrokeshire County Council highways teams actively monitoring the situation around the Salterns and Kiln Park areas.

A spokesperson for the Local Authority shared: “Following the sustained rainfall yesterday and a gradual reduction in precipitation over the weekend, river levels across the region are generally receding.

“However, the River Ritec remains an exception, currently measuring 1.97 metres at Kiln Park as of 16:15 today.

“Notably, the catchment does not appear to be responding to tidal influences, as observed in recent days. This makes it difficult to predict when, or if, the level will begin to fall.

“It is worth recalling that when the river reached 2.0 metres earlier this year, Natural Resources Wales issued a severe flood warning. At the time of writing, this is not in place, however, I was keen you had an update regarding the current situation.

“Highways teams are actively monitoring the situation around the Salterns and Kiln Park areas. They are equipped with sandbags and prepared to respond should conditions escalate.

“The road at Gumfreston remains closed and drivers are advised not to attempt to drive through the road closure,” they added.
