Richard Slate, director of The Albany Hotel, The Norton, Tenby, is set to run the Flora London Marathon on Sunday, April 13. This will be the second time that Richard has run the London Marathon, the last being in 2003. Richard, 38, has been a director of The Albany since the family bought the hotel last March and has been so impressed by the commitment of the RNLI here in Tenby that he felt that he would like to raise a significant amount towards the 'Train one save many' appeal. Richard said: "The work of the RNLI is phenomenal and when you are located so close to the lifeboat station and see them launch in all conditions you cannot help but feel compelled to do something worthwhile to assist this magnificant charity. To kit out and train a member of crew costs in the region of £2,000, a figure that I am wishing to raise. I have currently raised close to £700 and would urge the people of Pembrokeshire to support my fund- raising efforts by calling in to The Albany Hotel where they can use my sponsor form or alternatively visit http://www.justgiving.com/richardslate">www.justgiving.com/richardslate and gift aid is available on all donations for individual UK taxpayers." If you have your own place in the London marathon and would like to run for the RNLI, please call 02078393369 or email the RNLI events team at [email protected]">[email protected] The team at The Albany also took part in the Boxing Day Swim, with a sum of £80 being raised for the RNLI.
