Pembrokeshire County Council is to review education provision in the Angle Peninsula. Following a report on primary schools in the Pembroke family of schools area - which was considered by full council in July - preliminary consultation over the future of schools in the Angle area will now take place. The council is considering several options which will be discussed at a public meeting in Monkton next month. The three options are: retaining all four school sites - with Angle and Stackpole VC schools coming under one federated umbrella as will Orielton and Monkton Priory CP schools; federating Angle and Stackpole VC schools and closing Orielton CP school with pupils transferring to Monkton Priory or Golden Grove Community School/Ysgol Gelli Aur; closure of Angle, Stackpole and Orielton schools with a new school-either Community (CP) or Voluntary Controlled (VC) set-up on one of the sites. The public meeting will be held on Monday, October 6, at Monkton Priory Church Hall, Church Terrace, Monkton, between 6.30 pm and 8pm.
