Pembrokeshire County Council is to review education provision in the Angle Peninsula. Following a report on primary schools in the Pembroke family of schools area - which was considered by full council in July - preliminary consultation over the future of schools in the Angle area will now take place. The council is considering several options which will be discussed at a public meeting in Monkton next month. The three options are: retaining all four school sites - with Angle and Stackpole VC schools coming under one federated umbrella as will Orielton and Monkton Priory CP schools; federating Angle and Stackpole VC schools and closing Orielton CP school with pupils transferring to Monkton Priory or Golden Grove Community School/Ysgol Gelli Aur; closure of Angle, Stackpole and Orielton schools with a new school-either Community (CP) or Voluntary Controlled (VC) set-up on one of the sites. The public meeting will be held on Monday, October 6, at Monkton Priory Church Hall, Church Terrace, Monkton, between 6.30 pm and 8pm. Pembrokeshire County Council's head of education, Kate Evan- Hughes will make a presentation after which there will be a question and answer session. Places are limited.
