An amazing day at one of the most scenic parts of the Wales Coast Path will reveal the hidden histories of one of Wales's most beautiful landscapes.

On Monday, May 7, two days after the launch of the Wales Coast Path, the National Trust's Stackpole Estate will offer a day of wonderful experience from across the centuries at the venue.

Guided walks, plays, food, children's activities, a circus workshop and a virtual tour will all form a part of the Stackpole rediscovery on the estate's launch day.

The event is being held to celebrate the conclusion of the Stackpole Rediscovered Project and celebrate the hard work that project staff, estate staff and contractors have put into the project, as well as thanking project-funders WEFO and other supporters.

Rebecca Stock, operations manager for Stackpole Estate said: "Bringing country houses to life always presents challenges. They don't come much bigger than the complete absence of the house itself.

"Stackpole Court, originally the heart of the National Trust's premier coast and countryside site in Pembrokeshire, was demolished in 1963. In the years since, its man-made lakes and designed landscape have become a haven for rare wildlife, including otters and greater horseshoe bats.

"Now, the Stackpole Rediscovered project can tell the story of the once-great house -showing how a Palladian mansion was turned into a sprawling Victorian complex of family accommodation and service areas.

"Much of the work on Stackpole Rediscovered was carried out by Corvidae Ltd, who have created a virtual recreation of the house which brings it to life for the digital age.

"And we also want to show our wonderful new facilities in our Outdoor Learning Centre, which are being rapidly booked out to many diverse groups.

"This launch is going to be a great day bringing together all the things we feel so proud of at Stackpole and the opening of the Wales Coast Path which has some of its most beautiful sections so close to the Stackpole Estate. We want everyone to have a brilliant day out on us."

Evensts on Monday, which run from noon - 6 pm, include a theatre production - Stackpole History Play. This is an original piece from author Derek Webb, specially commissioned for Stackpole and this event. It charts the history of the estate and the characters that are woven into the fabric of this beautiful place. This will be performed by the Fluellen Theatre Company.

Other activities through the day will include: guided tours of historic Lodge Park Wood; guided lakeside walks; special tours of the old Stackpole Court; Stackpole Rediscovered information stand; dairy complex exhibition; community exhibitors; brew house and game larder open and re-presented; children's activities, including circus workshops, face painting, trails; cream teas, hog roast and ice creams.
