ON Friday, Heinz Holland officially retired from his job as a roadperson with Pembrokeshire County Council, and the Mayor of Narberth, Clr. Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers, presented him with an original painting, which had been commissioned almost a year ago by the council, but paid for by public subscription.  Heinz, recipient of the Narberth People Award in 2006, is pictured with the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Rogers, on his last day, in the wind and rain, on the Town Moor, doing his job, just the same as any other day.  The painting is inscribed 'Presented to Heinz Holland on 30th November 2007, by the people of Narberth, in grateful recognition of his service to the town'. Clr. Mrs. Rogers said: "When we found out Heinz was retiring, we had so many people asking councillors if they could contribute to a gift for him, that we asked Brian Whitfield, a local artist, to paint a picture of our most famous view. "We thought the painting 'Narberth on a Winter Morning' would be a pleasant reminder to Heinz of the town he served so diligently, for so many years. We are all going to miss him very much."
