Sir, Regarding your article in relation to beach dog signs, I find myself in total agreement with Mollie Neate. Her observations are spot on. The beaches in the area are frequented by far too many dogs. This has to pose a health and safety problem. If owners do clear up after their dogs, traces have to be left in the sand, and how do you clear up urine from the dogs. Sadly, the owners put the welfare of the dogs before that of other people using the beach, in particular young children who I have often seen playing where dogs have been previously messing. There are large dogs left to run around loose some distance from owners who are in no position to control them. I would suggest that the restrictions should be extended and when dogs are allowed on beaches they should be kept on leads at all times. I do wonder what the council's liabilty would be if somebody became ill or injured due to ineffective rules concerning dogs on the beaches. There again, is this a question of fears of losing revenue the owners bring to the area.
