Carmarthenshire County Council's conservation officer is to look at plans to turn a house in Laugharne associated with Dylan Thomas into a restaurant.

The county planning committee looked at an application for a change of use of Sea View, Market Lane, Laugharne, to a restaurant, kitchen and letting bedrooms.

Senior development control officer Stephen Thomas said: "The building dates back to the mid-19th century and is listed Grade Two on the basis of its group value and its historic association with Dylan Thomas.

"Sea View has been granted Listed Building Consent for works in July 2008 for the building's restoration, repair and refurbishment. Planning permission is needed for the change of use.

"There has been a late amendment to demolish the front boundary wall to create car parking spaces. This would need listed building consent."

The application was adjourned for discussion with the council's conservation officer and will be brought back to the planning committee as soon as possible.
