With Pembrokeshire County Council currently holding a review of 'residents' parking schemes' across the county, councillors in Tenby have been asked to give their views, with a questionnaire brought before members at their meeting on Tuesday night.
With some 50 schemes operating throughout the county, the county council have asked for help in reviewing existing 'residents' parking schemes' so the authority can assess how well they are working and to find out if there are ways that they can be improved.
Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane stressed that there was one element of the scheme that "time and time again" she had said she was unhappy with.
"I don't agree that the 'visitor permits' should continue to form part of the residents' parking scheme," she said.
"It's wrong that a holidaymaker can come down and pay £7 for a permit and then unload their vehicle and leave it in a residents' bay and not move it for a week until it's time to go home.
"That's not what the scheme was meant for; it was meant to give residents a fair opportunity to park on their street on a rotational basis," added Clr. Mrs. Lane.
Clr. Mrs. Brown and one or two other members pointed out that they had not received a copy of the questionnaire to their households yet, which was disappointing as the county council had stated that copies would be provided for permit and non-permit holders in the streets where the schemes currently operated.
