A Tenby resident, who lives on a busy stretch of road which is frequently used as a 'race track' by 'boy racers', has repeated his fears that their continued speeding will result in tragedy. Neil Rheind, of 6 Park Road, is concerned that it will take a tragic accident before proper action is taken to put a stop to vehicles driving at high speeds along this stretch of road. The road is one of the main exits from Tenby and currently has a 30 mph speed limit. Mr. Rheind's concerns come after his parked van was struck during the early hours of Monday morning by a passing vehicle which did not stop and has yet to be traced. "This wasn't just a tap, it was a big collision." he said. "The rear of my van has been caved in, so the vehicle that hit it must have been doing a fair speed. Along with other residents in the area, Mr. Rheind recently gave his backing to a campaign by County Clr. Mike Evans to get the speed limit on the road reduced to 20 mph. "The boy racers were out in force again that night, as you can hear them doing frightening speeds well into the night and the early hours of the morning," he said. "Five vehicles parked along Park Road have been hit during the past three months," he continued. "It's also such a busy road for pedestrians, especially with all the school pupils who walk along there. "I'm just worried that it's only a matter of time before someone gets hit by a car doing a ridiculous speed," stressed Mr. Rheind, who reported the latest incident to the local police. Inspector Les Clark stated this week that they would continue to monitor the situation. Local councillors have recently consulted with the county council over introducing traffic calming measures along what is one of the town's busiest routes. Although various proposals have been discussed, a solution has yet to be decided upon. POLICE APPEAL
