A woman campaigning for action to alert people to quicksand on a South Pembrokeshire beach has renewed her call to Pembrokeshire County Council.

As reported previously, lawyer Maryellen Doyle and her best friend's son, James (Phippin), who is seven, were on Wiseman's Bridge beach with Maryellen's two dogs, QC and Lilybear, when James became stuck in dangerous quicksand on Christmas Day.

She has also reported other incidents at Wiseman's Bridge and Tenby to the local authority.

After contacting the council again last week about the problems, a spokesman for the council told us: "This is a temporary phenomenon and not life-threatening."

He said the authority had put notices up in Wiseman's Bridge - on the slipway, on the front and by the tunnel - telling people there have been reports of soft sand on the beach and asking them to be careful."
