MP for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr, Plaid Cymru's Adam Price has repeated his call for cuts in business taxation in order to grow the Welsh economy.
Speaking at a meeting in Tenby last Friday, Mr. Price said: "The key to Wales' economic success is to grow small and medium businesses. These businesses are the bedrock of the Welsh economy, and our collective future depends on them.
"Reducing the taxes they pay would enable them to re-invest profits in a way which boosts the number and quality of jobs available in Wales. Profits taken out of the businesses would be subject to income tax in the normal way, but reduced business taxation would provide a direct incentive to investment and growth."
His call was echoed by Plaid's candidate for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire, John Dixon, who said: "Whilst inward investment into Wales will always have a role to play as part of our economic strategy, the best way to grow the Welsh economy is by growing our own indigenous companies.
"Wales has become too heavily dependent on branches of companies headquartered elsewhere, and we have seen that this can lead to problems when the economy goes through a bad patch, as is happening at present.
"Encouraging local enterprise is a far more reliable way of providing a sound long-term future for our nation."
