The tale of a woman who rode through New Zealand with two horses is to be told at Pembrokeshire College later this month.
Mary Pagnamenta, a head teacher and qualified riding instructor, completed the epic trip from South to North New Zealand with only two horses for company in 280 days.
All three arrived fit and healthy at Cape Regina having climbed to over 6,000 feet, encountered scree slopes, rocky beaches and deep and tidal rival crossings plus coping with some horrendous traffic during essential road work.
Living alone with the two horses and camping beside them at night gave Mary a unique insight into the working of their minds and bodies.
She spent months researching and preparing herself and the horses for the seven-month trek, and once started involved a routine which enabled them all to remain in good heart through the best and the worst of their 1,900 miles together.
Mary will be sharing her slides at stories at the college's Merlin Theatre on Wednesday, February 19 at 7 pm.
Proceeds from the evening will be going to the Brooke Hospital for Animals and the South Wales Riding for the Disabled groups.
Tickets are priced £5 which will include coffee and biscuits, while further information can be obtained by telephoning 844031, 844631 or 860157.
