Pembroke Town Council and Pembroke Castle Trust had expressed strong objections to both the planning application and listing building consent for the proposed development of multiple occupancy dwellings.
Over 300 Pembroke residents signed a petition against the plans for the proposed development.
Mayor of Pembroke, Clr. Melanie Phillips, stated: 'By signing this sheaf of petitions against the proposal of a property development at Castle Terrace, the people of Pembroke have given a clear indication that they are wholeheartedly against this scheme."
Clr. Phillips continued: "Thanks to the townspeople, Jon Williams and the trustees of Pembroke Castle, and the town council, this unpopular development has been withdrawn and will no longer go ahead."
Clr. Phillips also added: "Whilst Pembroke Town Council was strongly opposed to this planning application, they are not against development within the town.
"Pembroke Town Council merely want to ensure that any development which takes place is for the benefit of the local residents, local businesses and the heritage of the town."
