Sir,
As a long time visitor to Tenby, I have been following the debate about bringing St. Catherine's Island 'back to life' with much interest. Hearing that the current proposals are about to be refused prompts me to write.
To retain the status quo, so as to retain the perceived 'majesty and mystery' of some (I see it as dereliction and disuse) should not be an option. And as to 'Disneyfication,' that description of the proposals is not worthy of the Civic Society.
With regard to the Lexden Terrace Conservation Group, like everyone else they are entitled to express a view, but they do not own the views from their properties.
The 'authorities,' both statutory and voluntary, have failed to draw up proposals for the island in the past and now their collective role appears obstructive rather than constructive.
The National Park is for the benefit of all and to reject a proposal that will increase the interest within it and at the same time open up access to the island is short-sighted.
