The Mayor of Tenby has expressed "regret" that Pembrokeshire County Council's £20 million Big Lottery bid to transform part of the town's harbour area has been turned down. "The county council made an excellent report and we thank them for all their hard work and effort; hopefully it's something for the town to look to build on for the future," said Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council. However, the town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, revealed that it was not all doom and gloom regarding the proposal, as he had received correspondence from the county council regarding the matter and they were looking for ways to "drive forward elements of the scheme." Mr. Davies had also been in touch with the property manager of St. Catherine's Island, Mr. Simon Fry, who was keen to work alongside the county council to develop and deliver an "iconic landmark" for Tenby, which county council described as "encouraging news." It was agreed that a letter of thanks should be written to county council for their attempts with the 'Wales' Special Place' bid.
