As mentioned in last week's Observer, there will be a meeting at Tenby United RFC Club-house next Thursday, June 16, at 7 pm. The purpose of the meeting is for registration of players and the enrolment as members of Tenby Utd RFC of their parents/guardians. Your team coaches will be making their usual form of contact with you within the next few days. It is important that all players who wish to take part in the forthcoming season attend with at least one parent/guardian for membership and registration purposes. All players must be registered with the club before they play and most already are. There is an added requirement next season, however, and this is that the responsible parent/ guardian of a player joins Tenby Utd RFC. Membership is priced at £15 per family per season and will be required before the player can represent the Swifts on the field of play. Membership benefits include the right to apply for international tickets to see the resurgent Wales games. In the past, rugby facilities have been provided free, but a decision was taken in the present financial climate affecting rugby union in Wales to ask for this small contribution towards the club. You will appreciate there is a cost involved in providing the Swifts with facilities which include such things as kit, pitches, referees, coaching, food and trophies! The rugby season now extends over almost nine months, so the membership fee is of course terrific value! Compare it with the subs paid to other sporting organisations in the areas. The Swifts management and coaches would therefore like to see all those responsible for players at the club next Thursday and will welcome any new boys who wish to play rugby. All coaches should ensure that they have details of those boys already registered and forms to register new players and members. We look forward to seeing you next week and will welcome on board anybody who feels they can contribute to the successful future running of the Swifts.
