Although he had put his kit in the car prior to setting off for the drive to Whitland, his wife had used that car to go shopping and it was not until Mr. Griffiths arrived that he realised that he did not have any kit to officiate in the Division One West fixture.
Whitland Rugby Club came to the rescue with the help of two former referees, Eric Llewellyn and Clifford Bowen.
A whistle was provided by Eric Llewellyn, shirt and shorts by Clifford Bowen and one of the young players, Daniel 'Pengawse' James was able to supply a pair of boots.
