Both of Tenby's lifeboats were launched shortly before 10 pm on Sunday evening after several witnesses reported seeing and hearing a red flare between Saundersfoot and Monkstone.

Both the all-weather lifeboat and the ILB performed a thorough search of the area lasting several hours, but nothing was found.

With no vessels reported overdue and nobody reported missing, all search units were stood down.
