A new weekend pilot service will be run by The British Red Cross in Tenby between July and September this year.
The Red Cross will be the running the pilot summer service from Tenby Hospital over each weekend and during the August bank holiday.
The pilot will run alongside the minor injury service for the first few weeks to allow the health board to evaluate its impact.
Tenby's Minor Injury Unit will continue to operate its usual weekday service between Monday to Friday over this same period.
Sue Lewis, county director for Pembrokeshire, said: "Having the Red Cross provide this service reflects the health board's partnership approach to working with the third sector in more innovative ways.
"It will also release our emergency nurse practitioners to use their professional skills to strengthen and support our very busy A&E services at Withybush Hospital."
Nigel Davies, senior services manager for the Red Cross, said: "We are delighted to have been asked to pilot this new service at Tenby Hospital this summer.
"The service will be run by a group of skilled individuals who will use their experience of providing first aid at public events to give top quality care to people visiting the hospital.
"Red Cross volunteers attend events ranging from sporting fixtures to stadium-sized rock concerts. When accidents happen or illnesses take hold, their knowledge can be vital in giving the appropriate treatment and preventing further injury."
The summer service will be open from July 14 and run to September 7.
The health board would also like to remind people that community pharmacies are also able to give advice and signposting and provide over-the-counter remedies for common conditions such as coughs, colds, allergic reactions, and emergency contraception (i.e. morning after pill).
