Folly Farm received record visitor numbers over last week's February half-term break. Since Folly Farm's inception in 1988, the award-winning attraction has concentrated on operating throughout the main holiday season between March and October.

Chris Ebsworth, the park's managing director, said: "Two years ago we took the decision to extend our season by opening the park for weekends throughout the winter. We hope this year's performance is an early indication as to how the rest of the season will continue for us all in Pembrokeshire."

Early indications show that guests visiting Folly Farm over the half-term break have increased by a phenomenal 100 per cent on last year, with day visitors travelling from as far away as Cardiff, Bridgend and Swansea.

"Folly Farm's winter opening is also proving to be a hit with the people of Pembrokeshire," added Carol Robbins, the park's retail manager. "We have seen a steady increase in the number of annual ticket holders that are living within our county."

The annual ticket scheme allows guests unlimited entry into Folly Farm and represents great value for money.

The attraction is also planning a new addition to the already world famous vintage fairground.

"We are currently refurbishing a 1907 Cakewalk which we hope to open for the spring," said Chris. "This unique ride will be one of just a few still operating in the UK."

Folly Farm is still recruiting for the coming season in anticipation of excellent visitor figures. There are full-time and part-time vacancies in marketing, public relations, retail, ride operations and catering.
