Tudor Square in Tenby will this Sunday (September 1) be full of Classic cars and motor bikes as the town is once again hosting the finish of the annual Pembrokeshire Classic Run. The vehicles begin their journey in Milford Haven in the morning travelling through Pembrokeshire via St. Davids before arriving in Tenby from around 1 pm.
The run has this year attracted a record number of pre registrations for entry from far and wide, with one contestant travelling from Germany on his motor bike to participate.
Race organiser Jeff Edwards from Milford Haven said that the Pembrokeshire run had very quickly become established as a firm favourite of the participants because of both the stunning scenery around the county and the very warm welcome that they receive everywhere.
This year, participants will spend a record amount on accommodation, with many doubling up the run with a holiday.
Attending the rally will be BBC presenter Jane Harvey and Lord Gordon Parry of Neyland, while everyone will be welcomed to Tenby by the Mayor, Clr. Christine Brown. The Rotary Club of Tenby have once again volunteered to marshal the finish, and free hot drinks will be provided for all contestants courtesy of the Pam Pam Restaurant.
Tudor Square and High Street will be closed to traffic on Sunday afternoon, with a road closure notice in effect. The organisers are also grateful for the full co-operation shown by Tenby Police and the county council, and the Tenby Chamber of Trade and Tourism for funding the road closure advert. The park and ride service from the Butts Field to the harbour via Crackwell Street will continue for this day.
