The 12th Tenby Blues Festival is over, record crowds enjoyed three days of amazing music all over the town. What a great atmosphere there was as old and new friends came together to enjoy music of all kinds.

Here’s a selection of comments stolen from the festival’s sites :

The second weekend in November transforms this lovely seaside resort into musical heaven. From Friday evening to Sunday night, the whole town will never be ‘blue’. I can honestly say that the Tenby Blues Festival is not only the best blues festival in Wales, but also the very best music festival in Wales Aled Bont Jones.

What a brilliant Tenby Blues festival, hearing fantastic music, and meeting lovely people - Richard James.

Has anyone got any spare adjectives as I have used up wonderful, amazing, beautiful, mystical, rocking, wow (adjective?), fantastic, wonderful (had to use that several times) to describe this year’s line up - Sue Wharrad.

We had a fantastic time at one of our favourite festivals on the circuit! - James Oliver.

A good weekend and plenty of familiar faces here again. It’s always a nice atmosphere around town and that’s why folks keep coming back - Richie Westmacott.

Great weekend, booked the B&B for 2018 before we departed this morning. Thanks to all for making it a fine weekend - Steve Parke.

Opening a night’s proceedings, on your own and early doors, must be a daunting prospect, looking out a room full of ‘entertain me’ faces watching your every move. What Ian Parker did last night was more than that, he blew us away with a virtuoso display of unsurpassed excellence. His rendition of Hallelujah had a room full of punters holding their breath in awe, as he delivered a masterclass in confidence and poise. As for headliner Rebecca Downes, her material is a mix of genres which satisfies a wide range of audiences and judging by the congested dance floor, this one was no different - Alan Bates.

I have just spent a most enjoyable weekend in Tenby, following the Blues Trail. I have been doing so for the past three years and plan to do so for the foreseeable future. Once again, the number and high quality of ‘Blues’ bands competing to play at the myriad of bars and restaurants across the town has astonished me - Peter Seward.

Tenby Blues Festival Rocks - Bethan Stevens.

We would like to thank all of you who helped make this year’s festival one of the best ever. Such great music. Such a wonderful community vibe all over town. Thanks to the volunteers (without whom...), the sponsors, the artists, the technicians, the staff, the venues, the town council, the De Valence trust, and local businesses. And of course you, the festival goers. I hope you enjoyed yourselves. Music brings people together. Much love - Tenby Blues Festival Committee.

Next year’s festival takes place over the weekend of November 16-18. Put the date into your diary now. (This is the third weekend in November, not the second is it usually is. This is because the main festival venue, the De Valence, is booked on 11/11/2018 for an event commemorating 100 years since the end of WWI. The festival is happy to make way for this event because, as they say on their FB page, we should never forget the sacrifices others have made for us).
