At the meeting on February 8, the group discussed 'Daughter of Fortune' by Isabele Allende. It was an easy read which all the group enjoyed.

'Daughter of Fortune' is set in the mid 1800s, and its central character, Eliza, is presumed to be a foundling. The book traces the first half of her life, and gives an interesting insight into Chile, China and the Californian goldrush at this time.

The books planned for the next two meetings are: Thursday, March 8 - 'The Pilot's Wife' by Anita Shreve; Thursday, April 5 - 'The Reader' by Bernhard Schlink.

The group meets monthly at 7 pm in the lounge at the Greenhill Centre. New members to this friendly group will be made most welcome. For more details 'phone Ann on (01834) 844975 or (01834) 842696.
