It will certainly be a case of 'rats on the run' next month, when Gareth Davies, of Kilgetty, embarks on his first major charity run challenge, by taking part in this year's Flora London Marathon. Known to most as Rats, 27-year-old Gareth, who runs the gym at Swallow Tree in Saundersfoot, will be running the 26.2 miles to raise money for Diabetes UK, a cause close to his heart, as he has suffered from the condition himself since he was 10-years-old. "Even though I work in a gym, I've only been running for the past 12 months, so I hope the training will pay off and see me through," said Gareth, who will be joined by his friend Stephen Davies for the run on Sunday, April 12. Gareth would like to thank all those who have sponsored him already, including local businesses and shops such as - Heywood Mount; Clean Tech; Swallow Tree; The All Seasons Fabrics; Wisemans Bridge Inn; Station Garage; Watkins The Bakers; Classic Carpets; Dai The Butch; Tony Ormond; Sandyhill Nurseries; Co-op; White Horse Inn; Tee's R Us; Post Office; Bumper2Bumper; Kilgetty Chemist; Stepaside Coachworks. If you would like to sponsor Gareth, forms are available from Kilgetty Chemist and Stepaside Coachworks. You can also log on to his internet fund-raising page at http://www.justgiving.com/ratsontherun">www.justgiving.com/ratsontherun and sponsor him online.
