With 20 nations involved and 48 matches to be played at 12 different venues, you can catch all the action of the 2007 Rugby World Cup live on television at Kilgetty's RAOB Club in Station Road. All the action of this great sporting event, which kicks-off this (Friday) evening at 9 pm, with hosts France taking on Argentina at the Stade de France, will be screened on the RAOB Club's new 50-inch plasma screen in the social bar. The Wales games in Pool B, which will see Gareth Jenkins's side take on the likes of Australia, Canada, Fiji and Japan, will be turned into special events at the club, with free refreshments and food put on for viewers to enjoy the big match experience. Wales get their campaign started against Canada at 2 pm on Sunday, with the big one taking place the following Saturday, when the boys will take on one of the favourites for the trophy, Australia. As well as the Rugby World Cup, Kilgetty's RAOB Club also welcomes back all the Premiership football matches screened live on Sky Sports, along with all the other live sporting events shown by the satellite broadcasters. Continuing the sporting theme in the social bar, the club's pool and darts teams are also looking forward to the new season in their respective Pembrokeshire leagues. With the concert hall and bar area upstairs at the club having undergone a major refurbishment this year, there are plenty of events staged in the fully air-conditioned function room to enjoy, with live tribute acts, including the likes of Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue and Freddie Mercury lined up right until the end of the year. The function room can also be hired out for private functions on certain nights to cater for the likes of weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions for up to 200 people. The room also has the added attraction of a new state-of- the-art hi-tech sound and PA system, complete with stage lighting, to give the stage a real professional feel. Weekly events, including Bingo on Sunday and Wednesday nights, and Line Dancing on Tuesday evenings, are also held at the concert/function room. A recent successful charity night was held at the RAOB Club by the provincial lodge of the 'Buffs', which saw a magnificent £1,000 raised for charity on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
