They say that the sun shines on the righteous, so one can only assume that the 22 Pembrokeshire Ramblers who turned out on Sunday had all been on their best behaviour. From beginning to end, the group basked in early spring sunshine, finishing on Saundersfoot beach, which had the look of a Bank Holiday weekend.
Starting from the Glen, the walk leader promised ‘footpaths around Saundersfoot that you never knew existed.’ She was right, especially in the case of one stalwart walker who said that in 40 years of exploring the local area, part of the route was, to him, unknown territory.
The walk was devised with opt-out routes in mind, at two, three and four miles, but apart from one member who was venturing out for the first since a knee op., all enjoyed the walk in its entirety. To sum up, an enjoyable walk of approximately five miles, with less mud than anticipated.
Next rambles are tomorrow (Saturday), 10.30 am, St. Ishmael’s Cricket Club (six or 12 miles); Saturday, April 30, 10.30 am, St. Govan’s Chapel CP (six or 11 miles); Sunday, May 8, 10.30 am, Wiston, opposite school, (seven miles.)
