DURING the month of March, Pembrokeshire children will have the chance to meet Spot the dog during sessions throughout the county's libraries.

Funded by the National Assembly through the Welsh Language Board, the Twf project aims to ensure that more and more parents choose to bring up their children to be bilingual, especially in families where one parent or both are Welsh speaking.

"Experts across the world have shown that learning two languages is a great help for children with all kinds of other skills," said Rhodri Williams. "In Wales, it also means they get the best of both cultures and far more career choices.

"When children are small, learning two languages is no problem at all. It becomes a natural part of their everyday lives. It is much easier than learning a second language as an adult."

The story sessions will be held at the following places:

March 3 - Fishguard Library at 9.45 am or 10.45 am, Newport Library at 2 pm.

March 4 - Pembroke Dock Library at 9.45 am.

March 12 - Narberth Library at 1.30 pm.

March 16 - Tenby Library at 1 pm.
