Ras yr Iaith will be coming to Tenby on July 8.
It is a race which is being held all over Wales and goes from town to town. It is a fun event, not a proper race, as such. It is about raising awareness and the profile of the Welsh language. Having said that, there is no need to speak the language to take part in the race, either as a runner or helper, or sponsor.
The race will arrive in Narberth on July 8 at 9 am, starting outside the new junior school. The first part will proceed up to the centre of the town, through the main street and finish at the Bloomfield Centre. The next part will be from the Bloomfield Centre and proceed back to the junior school.
The race arrives in Tenby and will start from the Catholic School on Greenhill Road at 10 am. The first stage will go from the school, along South Parade, and finish off outside St. Mary’s Church in Tudor Square. The second stage will leave Tudor Square, down to the harbour and around Castle Hill, before finishing at the top of the harbour. The last stage will leave the harbour and proceed up Crackwell Street, along High Street, before finishing off in the sports field behind the Catholic School.
If anyone is interested in sponsoring, running, or just helping out as a steward along the route, in Tenby or Narberth, can they contact Menter Sir Benfro on 01239 831129.
