Sir,

Your reader Dave Mitchell was quite right to take umbrage at the Pembrokeshire County Council refuse vehicle he photographed parked on double yellow lines outside the Co-op store in Kilgetty (last week's letters).

Not only are double yellow lines present, but they are also supported by 'kerb blips' which means all parking is forbidden, even for loading and unloading.

This is for a good reason as any parking in this location causes visibility problems for vehicles exiting the adjacent car park.

We have spoken to the driver of the offending refuse vehicle and reminded him that parking restrictions apply to all vehicles, including council ones.

Had the vehicle been spotted by a civil parking enforcement officer, he would have received a parking ticket - and rightly so.

Clr. Rob Lewis,

Deputy Leader and

Cabinet Member for

Highways and Planning,

Pembrokeshire County Council.
