Nick Bourne, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the National Assembly and Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, is to question Assembly Finance Minister, Sue Essex, about the cash crisis facing Pembrokeshire and Derwen Health Trust. Nick Bourne said: "The Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust is facing severe financial difficulty with a budget shortfall of £2.4 million this year.

"As a result, the Trust is being forced to scrap its overnight district nurse service, reduce locum cover and cut down on agency staff.

"Theatre sessions at Withybush will be reduced and the hospital is losing four high dependency beds. The minor injury units at Tenby Cottage Hospital and Pembroke Dock's South Pembrokeshire Hospital will have their opening hours reduced.

"I am asking the minister to give an assurance that she will do all she can to help the Trust provide these important services."
