The people of Pembrokeshire were in party mood this week as a whole host of colourful events, including carnivals, street parties and fetes, were held the length and breadth of the county as people celebrated Her Majesty The Queen's Golden Jubilee in style.

Red, white and blue bunting, together with Union Jacks and Welsh flags, were flying high outside many regally decorated shops, businesses and homes for the historic celebrations.

As Jubilee fever gripped many communities, residents pulled out all the stops to mark the special occasion with not only traditional festivities, such as street parties reminiscent of those held 25 years ago, but also fancy dress parades and processions, fun days, garden tea parties, discos, tea dances, flower festivals, concerts, services of thanksgiving and sports events.

Revellers also let their hair down with barbecues, live music events and spectacular firework displays.

Most schools also joined in the Jubilee jamboree with their own parties and events on the Friday before half-term.

And such was the popularity of the commemorative events, that even the sunshine made an appearance!

While many were out and about soaking up the atmosphere over the Bank Holiday weekend, others stayed at home in front of their televisions to watch the pomp, pageant and celebration, combined with the excitement of the biggest football tournament on earth.

But, although many of us have now returned to work and the celebrations have drawn to a close, the flags are still flying high in Saundersfoot, where the festivities are continuing.

Proud of its community tradition, a packed programme of activities designed to cater for all has been taking place throughout the week in the village, including a Jubilee charity market, floral art exhibition, beach club, craft exhibition and fun day at the Regency Hall.

The festivities draw to a rousing climax tomorrow (Saturday) when the village's Chamber for Tourism stage their second Proms in the Park with the Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra at King George V Playing Fields from 7 pm onwards.
