AT a specially convened meeting of Quaynotes Choir members held at Carew Chapel, it was unanimously agreed to offer the position of musical director to Mr. Dave Howells.
Dave (pictured with choir chairman Ray Hughes) gave a very impressive presentation of his aims and his plans for the choir.
He informed members that among a long musical career, he had formed Yateley Choral Society, had been musical director of Winchester Operatic Society, sung with male voice and barbershop choirs and had played violin in several orchestras.
He hoped to entertain the people of Pembrokeshire with a blend of musical show tunes, popular songs, Welsh folk tunes and popular classics.
Although sad to accept the resignation of previous conductor Sharron Lusher, everyone was of the opinion that the new musical team of Dave, Eileen Thomas (accompanist) and assistant conductor Elvina Griffith would lead the choir forward to new heights.
He takes over the leadership of the choir in mid March.
The choir's next performance is tonight (Friday) at Begelly Church, where they are giving a performance to celebrate St. David's Day.
