Saundersfoot Rotary Club’s final Duck Race of the 2019 season was held at Saundersfoot harbour on Sunday and was a tremendous success, not only for the best duck sales, but also everyone had a quacking good time.
Three brave club members donned duck suits and paraded around the village having selfies taken with visiting families and locals alike, while the duck sellers were kept busy with queues at both selling points.
The weather was perfect and the ducks were released at 3.30 into the harbour for this last race. Saundersfoot Rotary were grateful for the help from members of the Wisemans Bridge Rowing Club in ensuring that no ducks came to any harm and were all safely accounted for, before being put into ‘hibernation’ for the winter.
All the money raised goes towards helping the many charitable organisations which we support locally, nationally and internationally. We are grateful for the tremendous support from locals and visitors alike for making this such a quacking good event.
Thanks also to our District Governor Peter Hamilton and his wife Gill who presented the prizes to our lucky race winners, and also to Mary Adams (assistant Rotary public image co-ordinator) who joined in the spirit of the occasion.
The club would also like to thank the harbour master and staff as well as Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism for their continued support.
We are all looking forward to entertaining the locals and visitors with next year’s Duck Races.
