Sir,
Further to a recent letter published in your May 2 edition by Mr. Arthur Williams, of Whitlow, the Saundersfoot Community Council would like to take this opportunity to confirm for the record that it was not aware of the additional Local Development Plan 'potential sites' in February '08, which included the fields behind Whitlow and Castle View. As was explained at the special community council meeting held on April 10, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority had initially considered many sites in Saundersfoot and had reduced the number suitable for further consideration to three, when it issued the draft LDP for consultation. However, the deadlines included within the consultation process allowed sites to be submitted up to the deadline of April 7. As such, a number of 'potential sites' were received by the Park Authority, but had not been included within the draft documents received by the community council on February 16 and were therefore not part of the council's review. The additional 'potential sites' were only brought to the community council's attention, when a local resident discovered them on the Park Authority website. A number of community councillors were notified, which led to the special meeting being convened. The community council trusts that the above explanation clarifies any misunderstandings.
Phil Baker, Chairman, Saundersfoot Community Council,
Northover, Rushy Lake, Saundersfoot.
