Young public speakers from Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn have won through from the Rotary Zone Final to the District 1150 Finals.

The Rotary Club of Cardigan hosted both the Junior and Senior Competitions which proved to be of an exceptional high standard, and those Rotarians, friends and families who attended, were rewarded with outstanding debates from all the schools who participated.

Junior Youth Speaks (aged 11 to 13): Winners - Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn with the motion 'This House believes that Harry Potter is a better wizard than Merlin' (sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cardigan). Team - Daniel Leonard, Sam Pulman-Slater and Kayleigh White.

Saundersfoot's Netherwood School team of Medya Gungor, Angharad Palmer and Ellie Short, were runners-up with their motion 'This House believes that Teen Pregnancy isn't always as bad as it seems'. They were sponsored by the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot.

In this section, Medya Gungor was adjudged to be the best chairman, Sam Pulman-Slater the best proposer and Kayleigh White the best opposer.

Senior Youth Speaks (aged 14 to 17): Winners - Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn with their motion 'This House believes that Shakespeare should be banned from Schools' (sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cardigan). Team - Anne Thomas, Flo Corral and Heledd Thomas.

The Ysgol Dyffryn School team of Harry Kind, Sam Stevens and Ellie Richards were runners-up with their motion 'This House believes that a Woman's place is in the Home'. They were sponsored by the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland.

In this section, Elenor Brewer, of Greenhill Comprehensive School, Tenby, whose team motion was 'Let me die with Dignity before I Die in Pain', was adjudged to be the best chairman, Heledd Thomas the best opposer Sam Stevens the best proposer and the best opposer was shared between Heledd Thomas and Ellie Richards.

Adjudicators for both competitions were Mrs. Patricia Ford (senior adjudicator), Miss Mattie Elliot and Mr. Gerallt Rees.
